This week, John Miller, Director of Sales & Operations at Shelter Works joins me on the show to discuss his company's success in manufacturing high quality composite buildings.
Shelter Works manufactures composite structures to protect field equipment in many industries, including water, waste water, gas, oil, telecom, aviation and energy. Their shelters are dramatically different from typical fiberglass buildings because of the unique manner of construction that improves quality, eliminates de-lamination and strengthens the structure even further.

This week we interview Scott Clear, the Chief Design & Innovation Officer at RKS Design. RKS, is a Los Angeles based design and innovation consultancy.
One of their recent projects consisted of creating an all new sustainable composite using excess tree pulp, something that had never been done before.
They molded the first batch of this material into guitars, to take advantage of the wood-like qualities that it offers.
On this episode, Scott joins me to talk about this project using THRIVE, a new class of thermoplastic composites. THRIVE composites use cellulose fibers to reinforce various plastics, allowing customers to bypass many of the current challenges with conventional fiber-reinforced composites like fiberglass.

This week I welcome Morten NormanLund of GXN on the show to discuss BioBuild, a collaborativeresearch project of 13 partners who worked together to design andfabricate four building systems made of bio-composites, provingthat bio-composite materials have the required fire resistance, durability, mechanical performance and thermal conductivity toserve the building industry.
The goal of BioBuild was to usebio-composites to reduce the embodied energy in building materialsby 50% without an increase in cost.
BioBuild won a JEC InnovationAward in 2015 (JEC is a non-profit association that is dedicated tothe promotion of composites.
